What is creativity to me?  Creativity surrounds us; it permeates every avenue of our social structure from our capacity communicate with each other through written language, to the ability to critically asses and respond to situations beyond our physical control.  Our social identity as a nation is entrenched in creative processes and interpretations.  Our identity as an individual revolves around our national identity. We are who we are because we respond to things the way we do.

Exploring the things around me, within my reach, within my surrounding environment. From mountains or concrete parking garages.  Realizing the smallest components that contribute to the magnificence of the whole.  The exploration of self , of one's inner potential and vastness.  Making sense of an internal dialog that is one's conscience. To project oneself into their reality and relevantly into others individual reality through a physical manifestation of broad unbiased interpretation.   Through analysis, trial, and the eventual error I begin the quest to the tick at my center.  To broaden one's self to unveil what were once fleeting glimpses of radiant horizons, and to expose the full potential what is within the individual and all around us.  
To see anew. Products, the objects of our creation, are compliment to our environment and experiences.   These objects and products become the story of our evolution.  They are the result of our response to our surroundings.  To explore the capacity of the human ability to adapt and integrate  personal values and creative intellect into a pool of expanding knowledge. These are projects and endeavors to open myself to the world so that I may channel unseen potential to the confluence of art, social and industrial interaction, and self realization.

Perpetual Motion

Gallery Installation Proprosal:  "Perpetual Motion"
Consider: Presence of self within the societal container.

The building blocks shall be composed of ceramic materials, wood, metal, and concrete.  These materials shall be staged at the south end of the gallery space upon pallets designed specifically for that purpose.  The willing individual shall by hand move the building blocks from the staging area of the gallery and assemble them by their design in the opposing north end of the gallery space.  

Their shall be 160 blocks or building units.    
The distance between the construction site and the material quarry shall be 18.75 ft.  
The total distance traveled by the laborer between the construction site and the quarry during construction  shall equal 1K.
Once, constructed the assemblage shall stand for 10 minutes;  the allotted time for a cigarette brake for every four hours of labor in an 8 hour work day.  
The laborer may take his shift break within his structure. 
The laborer shall then disassemble the blocks and return them to the correct pallets.
The distance between the construction site and the pallets is 18.75 ft. 
The total distance traveled shall equal 1K.

On the surface this installation/performance could be designed to raise awareness regarding energy usage and efficiency within a contemporary social context.    The performance alludes to the cyclic capitalistic condition.  Which, by design, is cruising on a never ending quest for the latest configuration of goods, devices and services, all justified with "logic".   Through this consideration I become aware of myself within this system.   Through the laborious building process a rhythm is achieved.  Synchronicity between mind and body; a meditative state.  By metabolizing the dizzying method by which our consumer society works I hope to find space and time to enjoy and appreciate the labor, every step, every brick laid though not be lead blindly.   I hope to evoke the appreciation for those things permanent and those things ephemeral, and that each leaves a mark, either on the land or the body.   Through activity we become aware of body and mind and limitless potential within it.
