Reality: Something that exist independently of ideas concerning it.
What is the most evolved point of an objects life?
The craft of deconstruction. I deconstruct to learn. It is always an exercise in problem solving….how do I get the the trailer?…how do I cut the pieces into equal widths? …How do I assemble it in the Gallery? It is different for every object. The first cut or slice or squish or tear is always the hardest. Deconstruction is as liberating as Construction. I like to think of what I do is Building in reverse. It is the re-valuing of things, time, and space. It is the rebirth of an object.
Art is a method to be fee of the rules and stereotypes and guidelines that channel us as individuals into corners.
make mistakes, or rather, make room in my process for the things that cannot be anticipated or expected. Be ready and willing to adapt. Expect to adapt. Expect that nothing will come out perfect, embrace imperfection; it is a reflection of life.
Art imitates life.
Art is the expression of one’s self.
Seek Truth, because Truth is absolute.
The work is defined by the process and the hand and eye of the maker, in this way the work becomes a reflection of the individual’s interpretation of reality. My opinions and perceptions of that object change as the object at hand is manipulated and further broken down. The design of the item informs the methods and final means by which the object can be deconstructed. The processes involved in the construction of the objects are the map of how to deconstruct them and eventually lead to how not to reconstruct them.
The process of deconstruction informs a new aesthetic. As the physical components are explored and revealed, the object and it’s meanings and or functions are challenged. This gives freedom to reorganize and interpret the fundamental truths of that object. Enlightened. Seeing again for the first time.
The Recontextualization of things is an Art designed to diversify ones view of contemporary understandings. Whither related to physical worldly things, the psyche, religion, history or the future, the reorganization and objectivity the is up to the viewer. The objective is to simply breakdown, to simplify.
Once the smallest relevant unit is achieved then it can be removed from context and stigma. This work is about dissolving stereotypes and perceptions of what is really in front of us every day. The result doesn't hold the power. It is just the beginning, where the truth lies. These abstract objects are the artifacts of our society; they are the building blocks from which social structures exist in the environment. Arranged in a particular assemblage these forms constitute to the whole. B
